The IAAEU is a corporate body under public law. It is legally represented by the directorate (Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Monika Schlachter and Prof. Dr. Laszlo Goerke).
The supervisory authority is the Ministry of Education, Science, Continuing Education and Culture (Ministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft, Weiterbildung und Kultur) of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, Mittlere Bleiche 61, 55116 Mainz.
